Motivated by limited space under my DIY loft, I redesigned my futon so it could be interchanged between the seated and reclined positions without needing to pull the entire structure away from the wall. Also, the futon was built stronger with improved seated position ergonomics.

Using a router I was able to redesign the mechanism’s path
The new part was attached by dowel rods and corner brackets
The assembly was then painted Purdue colors! 🙂
